An Army prosecutor today charged that alleged “kill team” ringleader Staff Sgt. Calvin Gibbs betrayed his oath to the Army, his unit and his country when he led a rogue group of soldiers in schemes to murder three Afghan civilians last year.
“Sgt. Gibbs had the charisma. He had that ‘follow me’ personality. He’s a well-spoken guy, tactically proficient,” prosecutor Maj. Rob Stelle told a jury of five soldiers.
