If you are thinking of getting your budding astronomer a gift for Christmas, consider attending Saturday’s public night event held by the Tacoma Astronomical Society.

Members of the club will give a presentation on buying telescopes, binoculars and astronomy gifts. Afterward, if the weather allows, there will be telescope viewing of the night sky. Visitors will get the chance to look at the moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, double stars and more through telescopes owned by club members.

The meeting will be 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Olympic Building off the north parking lot at the Fort Steilacoom campus of Pierce College, 9401 Farwest Drive S.W., Lakewood.
