Live Nation announced Monday that legendary pop star Prince will bring his Welcome 2 America tour to Tacoma on Dec. 19. Prince has not performed in the Seattle-Tacoma area since 2004.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Tacoma Dome show. Prices were not immediately available through Ticketmaster or LiveNation. com.

In its news release announcing the show, Live Nation called Prince “one of the most prolific and groundbreaking artists of our time whose recorded music, live performances and powerful artistry have affected music and pop culture like no other.”

Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked him No. 27 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Prince’s hits include “I Wanna Be Your Lover,” “When Doves Cry,” “Purple Rain,” “Gett Off,” “Kiss” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”
