A crash on state Route 12 in Thurston County killed a Rochester man. Three others were injured in the accident, which happened Friday evening near Denmark Street Southwest near Rochester.
The Washington State Patrol identified the deceased driver as 43-year-old Mark D. Stone.
The patrol gave this account of the crash:
Stone’s van was eastbound when it left the road, struck a guard rail and crossed into the westbound lane.
The van crashed head-on into a car driven by 19-year-old Carmon Gillaspie of Chehalis, who was westbound.
Gillaspie was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, while two passengers in her car – 19-year-old Vincent Thorp of Walla Walla and 23-year-old Trevor Duncan-Hostick of Oakville were taken to a Centralia hospital.
