Police in Oregon say Detroit Lions star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh crashed his car into a tree in downtown Portland, but was not injured.
Suh, a graduate of Portland’s Grant High School, was the NFL’s 2010 defensive rookie of the year after being the No. 2 overall pick by the Lions.
The NFL suspended him Tuesday for two games for stomping the arm of Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith.
Police said Suh was not impaired and was cooperative with officers following the accident at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
Suh lost control of the 1970 Chevrolet Coupe he was driving, which then hit a curb, light pole, drinking fountain and tree. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
Suh had two passengers in the vehicle. They were not injured.
No breath tests were performed because Suh was not impaired. No citations were issued, and a cost estimate of damages was not available.
RAMS QB UPDATE
The St. Louis Rams activated quarterback Tom Brandstater from the practice squad, reflecting concern about Sam Bradford’s availability for today’s game at San Francisco.
Bradford aggravated a left high ankle sprain in a loss to Seattle on Nov. 20, the same injury that sidelined him for two games earlier in the season. He was very limited in practice Friday.
Brandstater was re-signed to the practice squad earlier this week and could be the reserve behind A.J. Feeley. To make room on the roster, linebacker Ben Leber was waived.
