The Pierce County Auditor’s office certified general election results on Nov. 29.

Deputy Pierce County Prosecutor Jill Guernsey defeated former two-term Gig Harbor City Council member Bob Frisbie in the race for Position 4 on the Gig Harbor City Council.

Guernsey received 1,408 votes (52.07 percent) to Frisbie’s 1,296 votes (47.93 percent). Guernsey will take over for incumbent Jim Franich, whose term will end Dec. 31.

In the other two uncontested Gig Harbor City Council races, Ken Malich was re-elected to a four-year term for the Position 5 seat, garnering 2,142 votes. And Gig Harbor Parks Commissioner Michael Perrow received 2,089 votes for Position 6 on the council. He will take over for current council member Paul Conan, whose term will expire at the end of the year.

Other local and regional election results:

* In the race for Gig Harbor Fire District 5 Commissioner Position 2, Randy Stephens received 9,569 votes (67.11 percent) to Penny Hulse’s 4,689 votes (32.89 percent).

* In a close contest for Position 5 on the Peninsula Metropolitan Parks District Board of Commissioners, Andrew Morrison tallied 6,346 votes (51.27 percent) to Randy Boss’ 6,031 votes (48.73 percent).

* Pierce County’s Proposition 1, a one-tenth of 1 percent sales tax increase for improvements to the county’s 9-1-1 communications system, passed with 110,092 “yes” votes (55.16 percent) to 89,504 “no” votes (44.84 percent).

* According to the Pierce County Auditor, 204,895 ballots were counted in the Nov. 8 general election out of 414,360 registered voters, for a voter turnout rate of 49.45 percent.
