The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with catcher Josh Bard. The pact is believed to be worth $750,000, but not guaranteed.
Bard appeared in 26 games for the Seattle Mariners last season and hit .210 with a pair of home runs and 11 RBI. He also caught 38-percent of all would-be basestealers.
The 33-year-old backstop broke into the league with the Cleveland Indians in 2002 and has also played for Boston, San Diego and Washington. He is a .254 lifetime hitter with 39 home runs and 220 RBI.
To make room for Bard on the 40-man roster, Seattle designated pitcher Edward Paredes for assignment.
