Jacqui Binam enjoys being the elder statesman of the Puyallup Vikings’ bowling team.
Binam, who has been on the varsity team for the past three years, is one of only two seniors for the Vikings this year.
“I’m trying to consistently stay in the 200s,” Binam said of her game. “I try to do that in our matches and in our practices. That’s the biggest thing I’m trying to do.”
The Vikings’ roster is filled with youthful bowlers.
“The key thing is keeping all of us working together and supporting each other,” Binam said. “We have a great team chemistry. We are confident in ourselves and play with a lot of spirit.
Being a senior, it’s fun for me to help out the younger bowlers, and they help me out, too.”
The Herald recently asked Binam a few questions about her life away from the lanes.
The Herald: What is your favorite movie of all time?
Jacqui Binam: “Wall.E.” I just like it. It’s a cute little movie.
TH: What is your favorite restaurant in Puyallup?
JB: Mama Stornis. I love pasta.
TH: Where do you see yourself in five years?
JB: Hopefully just getting out of college and getting a good job with engineering.
TH: What is your biggest pet peeve?
JB: I don’t really have one in particular. I don’t mind a lot of things.
TH: What is your favorite hobby away from bowling?
JB: Playing softball. I’m going to play for the (high school) team this year. I have played it since I was 5 or 6 years old. It’s a sport I began playing in childhood.
TH: What is something unique about you that nobody would know?
JB: I grew up as an only child in Edgewood.
TH: What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
JB: Breaking Dawn. I loved it. It was great.
