A Mountain View Middle School student was expelled Friday after he admitted writing a bomb threat to get out of a test, Bonney Lake police said.
There was no bomb, and after the expulsion, the student was released to his parents.
Officers were called to the school at 10920 199th Ave. Ct. E. at 7:30 a.m. to investigate the threatening note. It indicated a bomb in the building would detonate at 12:30 p.m.
The school was placed in a modified lockdown.
Officers interviewed several students who had been in the area where the note was found. They later talked to the boy, who said he wrote the note so he wouldn’t have to take a test, police said.
A bomb squad dog went through the building and found no explosives.
The Police Department plans to forward its report to Pierce County prosecutors for review and possible charges.
Three days earlier, two students at Bonney Lake High School were arrested on suspicion of making felony threats at their school, the department said.
