Vandals broke into a mailbox and scattered mail on the ground late Sunday in Tacoma’s North End.
Tacoma police were notified shortly after 11 p.m., spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
According to the report, someone pried open a door on one of three blue mailboxes located at North 27th and Adams streets. Officers found mail on the ground and still in the box, Fulghum said.
The officers collected the mail and placed it in one of the secured drop-off boxes. The department then notified the U.S. Post Office.
The post office had placed a note on the mailbox by Monday, telling customers what had happened, a News Tribune reader reported.
