Some aspirin, some Emily's chocolates, some Almond Roca and maybe some truffles from Johnson's and Affairs; a Chihuly or two; postcards from Smith-Western and maybe a Bing Crosby T-shirt.
And that's just the beginning.
If you've ever thought of owning a gift shop in one of the world's most respected hotels (that according to Conde Nast Traveler Magazine), well now's your chance.
Hotel Murano posted a notice Wednesday on Facebook announcing that the lease on the lobby gift shop is now available.
"We're looking for someone who would run their own shop, " said hotel general manager Stan Kott on Wednesday afternoon.
The previous tenants, he said, have moved to San Diego.
"We're looking for someone to turn it into something new, " Kott said.
He expects that the new operators would offer the basic hotel-guest sundries, including snacks and beverages, but they could easily expand beyond that to sell gifts from local artists and Tacoma museums.
Along with the approximate 300 square feet inside, Kott said the new operators would also be able to display wares outside the shop.
"We're very flexible, " he said. "I want to have a gift shop, and we're open to different ideas."
To present your ideas, phone Kott at the Murano or send him an email at stan.kott@murano.com.
