Beginners have chance to learn fly-tying skills

Members of the Washington Fly Fishing Club will teach a beginning fly tying class starting Jan. 5.

Members of the Washington Fly Fishing Club will teach a beginning fly tying class starting Jan. 5.

Participants will learn to tie 15 Northwest trout fly patterns as well as receive personal instruction on common fly-tying skills. Each student will receive a class manual. A DVD showing close-ups of the flies being tied is also available.

The classes will be held in eight weekly sessions, from 6:30-9 p.m. The classes will be held at Mercer Island Covenant Church, 3200 78th S.E., Mercer Island.

The cost is $35 a person and the DVD is available for $10. For more information and to register, call Jim Higgins at 253-350-5085.
