 • Watch animals throughout the wildlife park enjoy fun, holiday-themed enrichments and then check out the indoor Cheney Family Discovery Center to learn about how animals adapt to winter at the Winter Wildland week at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, 11610 Trek Drive E., Eatonville. Hours are 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. today through Jan. 1; $16; 253-847-1901, nwtrek.org.

 • The annual Model Train Festival is this week at the Washington State History Museum, 1911 Pacific Ave., Tacoma. From scaled-down steam engines to figurines no bigger than a fingernail, the model railroad landscapes will be on display throughout the museum. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Jan. 1. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors ages 60 and older, $6 for students and military with valid ID, and free for children ages 5 years old and younger and members of the Washington State Historical Society; washingtonhistory.org/wshm/festivals.aspx.
