The Christmas holiday and its observance today will affect many local services:
• City, county, state and federal offices will be closed today.
• All Tacoma Public Library and Pierce County Library branches will be open today. (Initial reports said the library would be closed.)
• Most post offices will be closed today.
• Pierce Transit and Sound Transit will run on a Sunday schedule today.
• The Sounder will not run today, and Tacoma Link will run on a Sunday schedule.
• The Point Defiance-Tahlequah ferry will run on a holiday schedule today.
• Garbage will be picked up on the usual schedule. The Tacoma landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Most liquor stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
