A guided hike through Deception Pass State Park will be offered Sunday, Jan. 1, as part of the America's State Parks First Day Hikes Initiative. The program is intended to spark interest in the outdoors and promote a healthy lifestyle.

The 1 1/2-mile hike begins at 11 a.m. at the Bowman Bay parking area. The trail is moderate, and children must be at least 5 years old. Hikers are asked to bring water. Hot chocolate will be provided after the hike.

Vehicle access to the park requires a Discover Pass, which costs $10 for a day or $30 annually.
