Fife police have arrested two men suspected of stealing more than 40 guns from the Sportco sports store in Fife earlier this month.
The two were arrested after police served four search warrants on two private residences and two vehicles over the last day and a half, Police Cmdr. Tim Floyd said Thursday.
One of the men, 21, will be charged in Pierce County Superior Court today, police said. The second man, 32, is being held on unrelated warrants and remains under investigation.
So far, only three of the missing guns have been recovered, Floyd said.
“The next step is trying to collect more information from the suspects and some of material we gathered last night with service of the search warrants,” he said. “We’re hoping we can find several if not all of the missing weapons.”
The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives helped Fife police throughout the investigation, Floyd said.
Two men – one in a Santa hat – broke into Sportco, 4602 20th St. E., on Dec. 17 and stole about $21,000 worth of merchandise in just minutes, police said.
