A Boy Scouts troop based in Lynden will offer to recycle old appliances, electronics and scrap metal during the next two weeks to keep toxins out of landfills.
Computers, monitors and TVs will be recycled for free. Some electronics will be taken for a fee, including refrigerators, freezers, printers, keyboards and photocopiers. All scrap metal and electrical cords will be accepted.
Boy Scouts of America Troop 2010 will recycle items in Lynden from Jan. 4 to 7 at the corner of Front and 19th streets. From Jan. 11 to 14, the troop will be in Bellingham across from the DeWaard and Bode outlet store, 4175 Hannegan Road. Both weeks, the group will accept items from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Last year the troop kept more than 32,000 pounds of electronics from going to dumps.
