A late 3-pointer from Oregon forward Deanna Weaver lifted the Ducks to a comeback 88-86 win over the Huskies on Saturday afternoon in Eugene, Ore., after the Huskies led by as many as 16 points in the second half.

The loss prevented the Huskies (8-4, 0-2 Pacific-12 Conference) from securing their first conference win of the season.

Defense, a hallmark of UW coach Kevin McGuff’s program, was something the Huskies seemed to forget as the minutes dwindled off the clock.

“It was a simple screen that led to an uncontested shot,” McGuff said of the winning basket by Weaver. “That was the story of the last few minutes – they had open shots, and when they hit them, they made you pay.”

Following Weaver’s shot, the Huskies raced into the frontcourt, where guard Mercedes Wetmore found Marjorie Heard. The forward barreled her way into the paint for a layup, but a pair of Ducks came over to swat the shot away.

Oregon (9-5, 1-1) hit 13 3-pointers, tying the most the Huskies have allowed this season.

The loss spoiled a career afternoon from UW point guard Kellie McCann-Smith, who scored 26 points, including six 3-pointers.

WSU 61, at Oregon State 54 (2 OT):Senior guard Jazmine Perkins notched her third straight double-double to help the Cougars beat the Beavers in double overtime.

WSU (8-6, 2-0) improved to 2-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time since the 2000-01 season and swept a conference road series for the first time since beating the Arizona schools during the 1994-95 season.

The Beavers, who came into the game averaging 74.2 ppg, saw their record fall to 10-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Perkins recorded her third straight double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds, and four other players finished with at least eight points. Senior guard April Cook scored six of her eight points in the two overtime periods.

No. 4 Stanford 77, at UCLA 50: Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike each posted double-doubles for the second straight game as the Cardinal handed the Bruins (6-7, 1-1) their 12th consecutive loss against the perennial Pac-12 women’s powerhouse.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 18 points and 10 rebounds, her sister Chiney had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Toni Kokenis added 11 points for the Cardinal (11-1, 2-0), which won its eighth in a row and extended its league winning streak to a record 59 games.
