There was one DUI arrest in Gig Harbor during the New Year’s weekend, according to the Gig Harbor Police Department.
“You use legitimate violations to make contact,” Gig Harbor Police Det. Fred Douglas said Friday at department headquarters.
Pulling someone over for failing to come to a stop or not using a turn signal can lead to an arrest of someone suspected of driving drunk, Douglas said.
Police officers, Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies and State Patrol troopers, along with several other area law-enforcement agencies, joined forces during the holiday weekends to find and remove drivers operating their vehicles while impaired.
