  BELLINGHAM - Terry Bornemann has been chosen to be the City Council's 2012 president, as he begins his fourth four-year term as 5th Ward representative.

  During a committee meeting at noon Monday, Jan. 9, council member Gene Knutson nominated Bornemann, and no other nominations were offered. The council president chairs each council session.

  Council members chose at-large member Seth Fleetwood as council president pro tempore, to chair meetings if Bornemann is absent.

  Boise Mayor David Bieter and City Council members Elaine Clegg, David Eberle, Lauren McLean and Ben Quintana will be sworn in at a special ceremony Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Boise Depot. The ceremony will be part of the City Council’s regular weekly public meeting, followed by a reception. The depot is located at 2603 W. Eastover Terrace.

  Mayor Bieter and Council members Clegg and Eberle were elected to third terms in November. Council member McLean was appointed to the Council by Mayor Bieter in December 2010 and won election in November, filling the seat vacated by outgoing Council member Alan Shealy. Quintana will become the Council’s newest member, joining Council members Maryanne Jordan and TJ Thomson on the six-person council.

  The event also will mark the farewell for Shealy, who did not seek re-election. Shealy has been on the City Council since March 2003.
