BELLINGHAM - A Bellingham man was sentenced to a year and a day in prison Thursday, Jan. 5, for uploading child pornography to a photo-sharing website.
Timothy A. Brown, 27, pleaded guilty in Whatcom County Superior Court to one count of second-degree possession of depiction of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
A compliance manager for the website Photobucket reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that someone was trying to upload child pornography in December 2010, submitting account information and image samples.
The email used to upload the images was traced to Brown, who had been using the computer lab of the apartment complex where he lived on Westerly Road, according to court documents. Federal agents alerted Bellingham police, and Brown was arrested in March.
Brown admitted to investigators that he had shared child pornography images at least seven times, according to court documents. He said he would get the images from other men on the Internet and then trade them with others online for pictures of women age 18 to 20. During a computer forensic examination, investigators found 10 sexually explicit images that they believed were of minors.
