Thousands of law enforcement and parks personnel join with family and friends today to remember and pay tribute to ranger Margaret Anderson, the 34-year-old Mount Rainier ranger who was killed on New Year's Day at the park. The service at Pacific Lutheran University began with the somber sound of bagpipes and was followed by prayers, a poem and memories. Anderson's father, the Rev. Paul Kritsch, was among the first to speak. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar also paid tribute to Anderson's service and sacrifice.
A slide show of photos of Anderson through the years – as a teen, as a ranger, as a wife and mother – was shown. Olson Auditorium at Pacific Lutheran University is filled with Anderson's family and colleagues, law enforcement and national park personnel and a host of dignitaries.
