Idaho Community Action Network officials say they've been working to strengthen the safety net for low-income Idahoans. In support of that cause, ICAN members plan to converge on EZ Money, a payday lender at 1 p.m., Monday, at 2911 W. State St. in Boise.
Protestors will ask that the company voluntarily reduce the interest rate they charge for military families, and lower the maximum daily amount any one person can borrow from all payday lenders to $300.
Idahos payday and title lending laws are among the most lenient in the country, falling behind only Utah, say ICAN officials.
Idaho has no explicit rate maximum. The state also has a limit on outstanding loans of $1,000, providing little protection for Idahoans at risk of getting trapped in a cycle of debt.
