Sound Transit bus catches fire in downtown Tacoma; 3 on board unhurt

A Sound Transit bus caught fire Thursday afternoon near South 17th Street and Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma. The three people on the bus – two riders and the driver – escaped uninjured after the blaze broke out about 3:15 p.m., said Lars Erickson, a spokesman for Pierce Transit, which contracts to run some Sound Transit buses operating in Pierce County.
