The Nampa Police Departments 9-1-1 Center started operating in the citys new Hugh Nichols Public Safety Building at 6 a.m. Thursday.
Nampa police, fire department administrators and the citys information technology department all will be housed in the 65,000-square-foot building on 2nd Street South between 8th and 9th avenues.
As the move-in continues, the police departments records division will be closed through the weekend, starting at noon Thursday. The records division and fingerprinting will remain closed until 8 a.m. Monday, when it opens in the new public safety building. Patrol and investigation functions will not be disrupted during the move, police said.
The city is vacating its old police station at 211 12th Avenue South and other city-owned buildings on that centrally located downtown block to make room for private development.
