  BELLINGHAM - A severe-weather homeless shelter run by the Interfaith Coalition has sheltered dozens of people since opening Sunday night.

  They sheltered 33 homeless people that night, 54 on Monday night, 65 on Tuesday and 70 Wednesday.

  That's when William Charles West offered to help.

  The Kennewick general contractor stepped in to help the mission coordinate serving dinner for the two weeks of the kitchen renovation at the men's shelter in Pasco.

  BELLINGHAM - The severe-weather shelter for the homeless at Garden Street United Methodist Church will open Friday, Jan. 20, for the sixth straight night.

  On Thursday night, 71 people sought shelter at the church from continuing cold and the threat of more snow and freezing rain. That was the highest number for the week at the shelter.

  Men, women and children are accepted at the church at 1326 N. Garden St. A van operated by Salt on the Street will make the following stops from 5 to 7:30 p.m. to pick up homeless people for transport to the church: Church on the Street and the Rainbow Center on Holly Street, and Faith Lutheran Church, 2750 McLeod Road.

  Bridget Reeves feels blessed to have discovered her occupational passion early in her college years.

  Now the 23-year-old Western Washington University graduate feels even more fortunate to be named women's ministries manager at Agape Home for Women and Children, a shelter affiliated with Lighthouse Mission Ministries, in Bellingham.

  Reeves took charge in February. She worked as an on-call shift supervisor while a Western student and served on staff as women's chaplain following graduation. She and her husband, Justin, live in Bellingham.

  BELLINGHAM - Bellingham police are looking for a woman who has been missing since Monday, March 12.

  Gwendolyn D. Rainbolt, 26, was last spotted by a cab driver near downtown Bellingham at 5:50 p.m. Monday, said police spokesman Mark Young. She told the cab driver she was going to the Lighthouse Mission, 910 W. Holly St., and got dropped off at the intersection of F and Dupont streets.

  Family members called police when they could not get hold of Rainbolt the next day. They told a detective that Rainbolt didn't live at the Lighthouse Mission and they had no idea why she'd go there, Young said. A family member said it's imperative that Rainbolt takes her mental health medication.
