KENNEWICK -- It's been a crazy two days for Kamiakin's Khadidja Toure.
The good kind of crazy, though.
Toure, a senior, has been getting Facebook messages, congratulations in the hallways and even a text message from one of her future coaches at Oregon State.
All in response to Toure setting the single-game school record for points scored, after dropping 48 on West Valley on Tuesday in an 80-49 CBBN 3A victory.
"I've been working on a ton of (school records), wanting to break ... mostly the assists and the steals ones," Toure said. "It is such an amazing honor. Tondi (VonOelhoffen) is such an amazing player. It is just such an honor for me."
VonOelhoffen, then Redden, held the old record with 40 points set in 1985.
On Tuesday, Toure, an Oregon State signee, scored 16 points in the first quarter, four in the second, 14 in the third and 14 in the fourth.
She was 18-for-32 from the field, including 2-for-4 from the 3-point line. She also finished 10-of-11 from the free-throw line.
"I have not seen anything like that," longtime Kamiakin coach Tammy Hutchison said. "This year she is an all-around complete player.
"Every year she has matured and gotten better."
Toure raised her scoring average nearly two points to 21.7 per game. She also had five assists and seven steals in the victory.
She got the record Tuesday off a mixture of layups, pull-up jumpers and free throws.
The Braves forced 40 turnovers, using stifling full-court and half-court presses against West Valley. Teammate Courtney Nelson had nine steals and nine assists, constantly feeding Toure.
Toure's previous career high was 33, set in a game earlier this season against Moses Lake.
"I had a really good feeling about the game," Toure said. "We warmed up really good and our energy was really, really high, and I had a really good feeling about it.
"But I didn't know I was going to do that."
Toure isn't sure what she'll do for an encore, as the Braves host second-place Eastmont at 5:45 p.m. today.
"It's really cool that I got it, but we have more games to play," Toure said. "It is one game that is over and now it is focus for the next game."
