Tacoma police arrested a 31-year-old campus security officer at Stadium High School on Friday on suspicion of second-degree rape and first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, both felonies.
Tacoma Public Schools placed the man on paid administrative leave Jan. 12 after the district learned of what it called “inappropriate conduct with a student.” The district notified police, who launched an investigation.
Officials said the victim was a girl. Police suspect there may have been more than one victim, spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
Tacoma Public Schools sent a recorded phone message to Stadium parents Friday. The message said a letter would follow Monday.
The suspect was booked Friday into the Pierce County jail. The News Tribune is not naming him because he has not yet been charged in court with a crime.
