Metro Parks Tacoma is offering a series of trips for people looking for a winter adventure, but don’t have equipment, experience or a buddy to go with.

Here is a rundown of the trips being offered:

Family Snow Day

Today, Feb. 11 and 18, March 3

Head to Mount Rainier to sled, play in the snow. Participants must be age 2 or older. Transportation is included; participants must bring their own equipment. Family activities require participation by two or more intergenerational family members. Cost for each outing is $20 for family of four, $4 per additional person. Trips depart at 9 a.m. from various local Community Centers and return at 4 p.m.

Adult cross-country skiing

Saturday

Enjoy cross-country skiing on the Iron Horse Trail from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Learn the basics of cross-country skiing on this groomed, level trail on Snoqualmie Pass which is just right for beginners. Participants must be 21 or older. Cost is $65 for Tacoma residents, $70 for non-residents and includes instruction.

Adult snowshoe hike

Feb. 12

Enjoy the winter beauty of the mountains on this easy-to-moderate snowshoe hike. Participants must be 21 or older. Cost is $60 for Tacoma residents, $65 for non-residents.

Family fun trip

Feb. 25

Bundle up the kids for a day of fun and learning in the snow. A Tacoma Nature Center naturalist will lead this snowshoe adventure and teach participants to observe nature in a whole new way. Dress for the cold, wear sturdy boots and bring a sack lunch. Participants must be age 7 or older. Family activities require participation by two or more intergenerational family members. Cost is $18 for Tacoma residents, $20 for non-residents and includes instruction.

Women’s snowshoe hike

Feb. 26

Embark on a snowshoe adventure with other women and experienced guides. Participants must be age 18 or older. Bring your own lunch. Cost is $60 for Tacoma residents and $65 for non-residents.

Adult cross-country skiing

March 10

Learn the basics of cross-country skiing on the groomed, level Iron Horse Trail on Snoqualmie Pass, which is just right for beginners. Participants must be age 21 or older. Cost is $65 for Tacoma residents, $70 for non-residents and includes instruction.

Transportation is provided for all trips and equipment is provided for all the trips except the family snow days. Participants should bring a lunch and water, and dress for the weather. Destinations are subject to change, depending on weather and snow conditions.
