  BELLINGHAM - Efforts could begin as early as Tuesday, April 3, to recover the bodies of two people who are believed to have died in a massive fire that struck Squalicum Harbor late last week.

  BELLINGHAM — Divers pulled two bodies from the water at Squalicum Harbor Thursday morning, April 5, as part of the recovery and salvage process following a massive marina fire last week, according to Bellingham police.

  The identity of the bodies could not be confirmed Thursday, and both have been turned over to Whatcom County Medical Examiner Gary Goldfogel, who will try to establish the cause of death as well as their identities.

  Husband and wife Jim Langei, 43, and Sterling Taylor, 33, have been missing since a fire tore through the boathouse where they lived aboard their boat Friday, March 30. Their families have been notified of the discovery of the bodies.

  BELLINGHAM - As investigators continue to sift through the rubble of a huge fire that killed two people in Squalicum Harbor, divers have confirmed a dozen boats were destroyed in the blaze.

  The origin of the fire, however, remains a mystery. Private insurance investigators are now helping the Bellingham Fire Department and police to determine its cause, said police spokesman Mark Young.

  Two weeks into its investigation, the fire department has been unable to figure out where or how the March 30 fire started.
