A Lacey soldier was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase to his Carpenter Road home Monday, a day after he broke his girlfriend’s jaw and held her at gunpoint during a dispute, court papers state.
On Tuesday, a judge ordered the 40-year-old man held on suspicion of second-degree assault, domestic violence; attempted eluding a police vehicle; unlawful imprisonment while armed with a firearm, domestic violence; and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to court papers:
Thurston County SWAT Team members arrested the man after the chase, during which the man had his 3-year-old daughter with him.
Lacey police had attempted to pull the man over on Pacific Avenue, but he fled during a chase that reached 90 mph. The man was wanted because of what he’d done the day before.
The man initially refused to leave his home Monday.
“Several times the defendant would come in and out of the residence with and without holding (his daughter), as if shielding himself from law enforcement,” court papers state.
After negotiating with SWAT team members, the man first released his daughter, then gave himself up, court papers state.
