The Seattle Mariners signed infielder Carlos Guillen to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training Wednesday.
The 14-year veteran spent the first six seasons of his career with the Mariners before being traded to Detroit, where he has played since.
Last season, Guillen hit .232 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 28 games for the Tigers.
The 36-year-old is a three-time All-Star. He is a career .285 hitter with a .355 on-base percentage, 266 doubles, 124 homers, 660 runs batted in and 510 walks through 1,305 games with Seattle and Detroit.
