A young man shot Nov. 27 during a confrontation with a Tacoma police officer has died.
The 18-year-old man died Tuesday night, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Officer. His name was not released. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Police said the shooting happened after an officer stopped a vehicle shortly before 9:30 p.m. in an alley near East 34th and F streets. The officer was out of his patrol car when the driver put the vehicle in reverse and hit the officer’s car.
The officer was not hurt and fired several shots at the vehicle, wounding the driver, police said.
Police said the vehicle the teen was driving had been reported stolen.
The police department’s Use of Force Review Board has not yet looked into the shooting.
