Max McIntosh’s stellar senior season for the Rogers Rams didn’t go unnoticed by the Central Washington University football program.

McIntosh, who had a team-high seven interceptions last fall and returned four of them for touchdowns, signed a National Letter of Intent last Wednesday to attend Central Washington University in Ellensburg. McIntosh also will run track for the Wildcats.

Central Washington is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

McIntosh said signing was a dream come true.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “When you grow up playing football, you always want to play football in college and always wonder about it,” he said. “To finally have that happen is a great feeling. I feel confident in my decision to go to Central.”

McIntosh said he likely will line up at defensive back. He played both cornerback and receiver for the Rams.

Rogers head football coach Gene Bowen said McIntosh will thrive with the Wildcats.

“Central is going to be a good fit for him,” Bowen said. “It will be a great opportunity for Max to play on either side of the football. I know the coaches at Central were really fired up about landing Max. He brings a lot of positive energy. He is an intense competitor.”

McIntosh credited Bowen, as well as and his older brother, Ryan, for helping him play college football. Ryan McIntosh graduated from Rogers High School in 2009 and now plays basketball for Dominican University in San Rafael, Calif.

“I came to Rogers High School because coach (Gene) Bowen is a great coach and Rogers had a great football program,” McIntosh said. “(Bowen) has been there the whole way, mentoring me. My brother Ryan is probably my No. 1 supporter. He has been involved with sports all his life. To have someone like him as an older brother in my life is awesome. I don’t think I would be as successful as I am today without him.”

McIntosh said he’s excited about showing the college football world what he’s made of.

“I feel like I’m a big-play type of player,” he said. “(Central) is expecting me to go in there and make big plays. That is what is going to happen.”
