The driver of an SUV was seriously injured Thursday after the vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Pierce County.

The driver of an SUV was seriously injured Thursday after the vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Pierce County.

The 3 a.m. crash knocked down the pole and wires, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. The pole and wires blocked Waller Road at Pioneer Way, closing the road for several hours.

Everson man's semi crashes on Highway 9

An Everson man lost control of and crashed a semi truck north of Sedro-Woolley Monday morning, March 19, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Swietze Vandermullen, 67, was driving a semi truck south on Highway 9 near Prairie Road at about 8:20 a.m. when the truck went off the road and onto the right shoulder.

The truck then hit a stump, overturned and slid into a power pole on the northbound shoulder, blocking both directions of traffic on Highway 9, according to state patrol.
