The state Senate's Ways & Means Committee will hear a bill proposed by Sen. Derek Kilmer at 1:30 p.m. Monday regarding the sales tax on the construction of the New Narrows Bridge.
Kilmer, D-Gig Harbor, successfully has asked the Legislature to postpone repayments of the sales tax in the past, although those payments are scheduled to be made beginning this year. On two previous occasions, those payments have been deferred.
Kilmer's argument has been that the state shouldn't have to pay sales tax on the construction of the bridge. He has moved to have it completely removed.
The hearing will take place in front of the full committee in Senate Hearing Room 4 inside the J.A. Cherberg Building in Olympia.
