Saturday’s highlights
Graham-Kapowsin sent eight wrestlers to the finals of the SPSL South sub-regional tournament and captured the team title. The Eagles totaled 289 points and were followed by Rogers, Puyallup and Beamer.
Three Yelm Tornados won individual titles at the sub-regional girls wrestling tournament and helped Yelm to the team championship. Alex Meredith took first at 130 pounds, Kyla Campbell won at 137 and Morgan Michels was tops at 170.
At the Narrows League 3A wrestling tourney, Yelm cruised to the team title, sending 10 wrestlers to the finals. Russell Kacher (113 pounds), James Bradley (138), Eli Johnston (145) and Anthony Allred (160) won titles for the Tornados.
Curtis toppled Beamer, 62-52, on its way to securing its third SPSL South boys basketball championship. Darius Johnson-Wilson led the Vikings with 19 points.
Federal Way beat Bethel, 41-34, and clinched the SPSL South girls basketball title.
Fourth-ranked Wilson crushed defending 3A state champion Holy Names, 65-40.
Eatonville earned a share of the SPSL 2A girls basketball title when it beat Steilacoom, 80-44.
Mount Rainier’s Baylee Hamilton and Cheyenne Gavino finished first and second in the all-around competition at the SPSL 4A gymnastics meet, leading the Rams to the team title.
Enumclaw’s Olivia Bannerot and Maddison Ward claimed the top two spots in the all-around at the SPSL 3A/2A gymnastics championships and helped the Hornets capture the team title.
