What: Celebrate the snow and all of the fun you can have skiing, snowboarding and tubing.
When: Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.
Where: Ski Hill, 10701 Ski Hill Drive, Leavenworth. The hill is less than 2 miles from downtown Leavenworth.
What you can do: Among the activities during this Ski Hill tradition are face painting, a kids obstacle course, costume contest, a torchlight parade and fireworks. In addition, you can play in the snow by tubing, skiing and snowshoeing.
Big air competition: Registration for this free event ends at 1:15 p.m. The event will start at 1:30 p.m. at the Airplane Jump on the Big Hill. Competitors will be judged as they soar high, do tricks and see who can go the farthest.
Chow down: A barbecue will run 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The cost is $4-$5, and includes hamburgers and hot dogs, fruit, chips, cookies and drinks.
Fun at night: People wanting to take part in the torchlight parade should line up at 5:30 p.m. The fireworks show will follow the parade and awards for the costume contest.
Cost: The carnival events are free. Adult alpine and Nordic skiing is $15 per day. Tubing costs $15-$17 for 90 minutes and includes tubes.
Ski Hill facts: The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club operates two rope tows, a Nordic jumping hill, a tubing hill and 8 kilometers of Nordic trails of which 5 km are illuminated for night skiing. They also maintain another 18 km of Nordic trails at three other locations in the valley.
