Pierce County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a hatchet-wielding man who broke into a patrol car and drove off this morning.

Deputies suspect the man might have been on drugs during the encounter.

Deputies responded to a neighborhood complaint around 7:30 a.m. in the Graham area. They found the shirtless man walking around with a hatchet, “acting crazy,” Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
