The Oakland Raiders have named Jason Tarver as their new defensive coordinator.
Tarver served as co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Stanford in 2011. The Cardinal ranked either first or second in the Pac-12 Conference in six defensive categories.
Prior to his time at Stanford, Tarver spent 10 seasons in various coaching capacities with the San Francisco 49ers. He was quality control coach (2001-03), assistant running backs/offensive assistant coach (2004) and outside linebackers coach (2005-10).
Last week, the Raiders named veteran coach Greg Knapp as their offensive coordinator.
