Purple ribbons adorn South Hill neighborhood to honor Powell boys

Community members around Carson Elementary School have started to hang purple ribbons in honor of the two Powell brothers who were killed Sunday in a violent house fire.

Community members around Carson Elementary School have started to hang purple ribbons in honor of the two Powell brothers who were killed Sunday in a violent house fire.

The color of the ribbons – purple – was their mother’s favorite. Family members of Susan Cox Powell have hung purple ribbons and wreaths since her mysterious disappearance in December 2009.
