    Daniel Santiago Guerrero, 16, drowned in Whatcom Creek May 6 when he jumped in near a 3-foot-tall cascade.

    Guerrero, the oldest of six siblings, attended Squalicum High School. He was passionate about music and building bikes, said family friend Jackie Archouletta.

    PULLMAN -- A former Tri-City man died this week in an accident in Pullman.

    Kevin R. Byers, 31, was working under a parked pickup Monday evening outside his home when the truck rolled and pinned him, suffocating him, said Pullman police Sgt. Dan Dornes.

    Byers lived in the Tri-City area most of his life. He spent eight years as a medic in the Oregon Army National Guard. Among his decorations was a Bronze Star.
