The owner of a court reporting business announced this week that he will run for a 30th District House seat as a Democrat.

The owner of a court reporting business announced this week that he will run for a 30th District House seat as a Democrat.

Roger Flygare of Federal Way said he is planning to file for the district’s Position 1 seat now held by Democrat Mark Miloscia, who is running for state auditor instead.

Retired Benton County sheriff won't run for county commission

Retired Benton County sheriff Larry Taylor who said months ago that he would run against Leo Bowman for county commissioner has changed his mind and won't file as a candidate when the filing period opens Monday.

The Washington state primary is Aug. 7.

"I have a lot of experience and knowledge, but my official position is I will not run," said Taylor, whose career in law enforcement in the county spanned three decades, including 12 years as sheriff.
