Friday’s highlights
In the 3A Narrows League tiebreaker, Foss had a season-defining performance from Dezmyn Trent, who led all scorers with 39 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Falcons’ 78-75 overtime win over league foe Lincoln. The Abes’ Tre’Shaun Lexing scored a team-high 28 points.
Ahmaad Rorie’s game-high 27 points paced Clover Park to a 66-55 win over Sequim in the 2A subdistrict playoffs. Xavier Means added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors.
White River’s combined offensive attack of Billy Kiel (17 points) and Jason Tyler (13) earned a 48-46 victory over Lindbergh. The Hornets were able to overcome a 24-13 halftime deficit after only scoring two points in the second quarter.
Dan DeVries had 17 points and nine rebounds in Sumner’s 62-48 2A subdistrict win over Port Angeles. The Spartans also had key performances from Dave DeVries (14 points) and Zeb Glissmeyer (10 points, 15 rebounds.)
Eatonville’s Erik Swartout scored a game-high 14 points in the Cruisers’ 72-34 blowout victory over 2A subdistrict foe Tyee. Zach Fairhart (13 points), Dalton Hancock (12) and Brendan Davis (11) also boosted the Cruisers’ offense.
Led by Catie Mets and Hannah Niles down the stretch, North Thurston rallied against host Woodland in the fourth quarter to force overtime, then defeated the Beavers, 59-56, in double overtime in the opening round of the 2A District IV girls basketball tournament.
For the second time in three days, Black Hills came up on the losing end to W.F. West, the co-champion of the 2A Evergreen Conference, this time 58-38 in the first round of the district tournament. Regina Spencer led all scorers with 15 points for the Bearcats.
