CHOCOLATE ON THE BEACH
What: Fifth annual festival
When: Feb. 24-26
Where: Locations in Pacific Beach, Moclips, Aloha and Seabrook. Key venues are “Hall of Sweets” at Pacific Beach Elementary School, 11 Fourth St., Pacific Beach; and “Hot Cocoa Hall” at North Beach Community Center, 4576 State Route 109, Pacific Beach.
Activities: They include a bake sale, chocolate vendors and crafts, chocolate and wine, chocolate cooking classes, a family scavenger hunt and a chocolate recipe contest. Also on the schedule are showings of the movies “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” and “Chocolat” at the Pacific Beach Resort.
New events: New this year are cooking classes sponsored by the Ocean Crest Resort and a kid’s event at the “Palace of Treats” at the Pacific Beach Resort Conference Center. Organizers also have added a third venue, the “Hot Cocoa Hall” at the North Beach Community Center to hold more vendors.
Cookbook: Once the festival is over, recipes collected from the first five years of the event will be made into a cookbook.
Admission: $5 per adult for both days, children 17 and younger get in free. Proceeds help support Museum of the North Beach.
