Take road trip and count birds at McNary refuge

Visitors to McNary National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday will have the chance to discover the abundance of ducks, swans, geese and other migrating birds during Waterfowl Day.

Visitors to McNary National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday will have the chance to discover the abundance of ducks, swans, geese and other migrating birds during Waterfowl Day.

Binoculars, spotting scopes and bird guides will be provided. Activities will be from 9 a.m.-noon. Bird count information will be entered at ebird. org.

The 15,000-acre refuge runs along the east bank of the Columbia River, from the confluence of the Snake River to the mouth of the Walla Walla River, and downstream into Oregon. It is in rural Burbank, close to the Tri-Cities.
