Updated, 11:15 a.m. Sunday:

King County Sheriff's Office deputies, while working with the state Department of Corrections, were involved in a shooting at an Auburn home on Saturday.

The team was serving an arrest warrant in the 37600 block of 42nd Avenue South just before 5 p.m. A 27-year-old man was arrested without incident for an outstanding felony warrant, sheriff's office spokeswoman Sgt. Katie Larson said.

While inside the home, law enforcement officers were told that a second man in another room in the house had a rifle, Larson said. A gun in the home would be a DOC violation, she explained, and that is why is officers went looking further in the home.

A King County deputy and a DOC officer went to the second man's room to investigate.

"After numerous demands by law enforcement to comply with their directions, the man reached for what deputies feared was a weapon and they fired, hitting the man," Larson said.

The man, who is about 30 years old, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. No details were immediately available on his condition.

King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and detectives from the Bellevue Police Department are investigating. They wrapped up their search at the scene at 3 a.m. Sunday, Larson said.

"This is an ongoing investigation and it will be several days before we have additional specifics to release," Larson said.
