Man killed as car hits embankment in Tacoma

Tacoma police said a man was killed early Tuesday after crashing into an embankment near the intersection of Alexander Avenue East and 12th Street East.

Tacoma police said a man was killed early Tuesday after crashing into an embankment near the intersection of Alexander Avenue East and 12th Street East.

The crash occurred about 3 a.m. The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

Naveed Benjamin, a Tacoma police spokesman, said the man’s vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed and crashed into the embankment in the 1200 block of East Alexander Avenue.
