Lake Tapps’ annual spring refill is set to begin as early as March 12.

That means residents and visitors will see the water begin to rise by as much as a foot a day, said Cascade Water Alliance, owner of the East Pierce County reservoir, in a news release.

Cascade’s goal is to have the lake filled by April 15, in advance of the busy water recreation season.

The group of King County cities and water and sewer districts bought Lake Tapps in 2009 with plans to eventually use it as a drinking water source.
