Washington Democrats will take the first step toward selecting delegates to the party’s national convention on Sunday when they meet at precinct caucuses around the state.

President Barack Obama may have a lock on the party’s presidential nomination, but the 1 p.m. caucuses might not be devoid of debate.

Resolutions aimed at shaping the party’s county and state platforms also will be decided.

Anyone can attend. To participate in voting, you must be a registered voter and sign a form declaring yourself a Democrat.

Any 17-year-old who will be 18 years of age by the Nov. 6 general election also can participate.

To know which caucus to attend, you will need the numbers of the legislative district and precinct where you are registered to vote.

Both numbers appear on your voter registration card. Or you can use the caucus finder on the Washington State Democrats’ website at www.wa-democrats.org.
